Mohammed Rokon Uddin ("we," "our," or "us") built QuranWords as a free app for learning Quranic Arabic vocabulary. This Privacy Policy explains what information QuranWords accesses, how it is used, and your choices — written in plain language, and in line with Apple's App Store privacy requirements.
By using QuranWords, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
To provide the app's core learning features, QuranWords stores the following only on your device, using Apple's local SwiftData and UserDefaults frameworks:
None of this information is transmitted to us. It never leaves your device except as part of Apple's standard iOS device backup (iCloud/iTunes), which is controlled entirely by your own Apple ID settings, not by QuranWords.
QuranWords displays Quranic text, word-by-word translations, and audio recitation sourced from the Quranic Arabic Corpus and the following public Quran content providers. When the app fetches this content, it sends only the specific verse/word reference and your selected language code — never any information that identifies you personally:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| api.qurancdn.com (Quran.com) | Verse and word-level translation data |
| api.alquran.cloud | Verse translations in additional languages |
| audios.quranwbw.com | Word-by-word pronunciation audio |
| everyayah.com | Full verse recitation audio |
| audio.qurancdn.com | Backup source for word audio |
These requests are standard read-only HTTP requests, similar to visiting any website — they inherently include your device's IP address and basic technical request headers (as with any internet connection), but QuranWords does not attach any user identifier, account, or profile data to them. We do not control these third-party providers' own data practices; if you have concerns, you may review their respective privacy policies directly.
If your chosen dialect voice or recitation audio can't be fetched, QuranWords falls back to Apple's on-device AVSpeechSynthesizer for Arabic pronunciation — this happens entirely on your device and sends nothing anywhere.
If you enable daily reminders, QuranWords schedules local notifications on your device using Apple's UserNotifications framework. These are not push notifications — no message content or scheduling data is sent to us or to any push notification server. You can disable notifications at any time in the app's Settings or in iOS Settings → Notifications.
Because everything QuranWords stores lives only on your device, "using" your information simply means: powering the app's own features for you — showing your progress, remembering your preferences, scheduling your reminders, and caching content so the app works offline and loads faster.
We do not use any information to build advertising profiles, sell data, or make automated decisions about you, because we never receive it in the first place.
All app data is stored locally on your device for as long as QuranWords is installed. You are always in full control of it:
Because we don't operate a server or hold any copy of your data, there is nothing further for us to delete on our end — uninstalling the app is a complete and immediate deletion.
Your learning data is protected by the same security measures Apple provides for all locally stored app data on iOS, including the device's built-in encryption at rest. All network requests to third-party content providers use HTTPS (TLS encryption) in transit.
Because we do not operate servers or transmit personal data off your device, there is no centralized database of user information that could be exposed in a data breach on our end.
Since QuranWords does not collect or hold any personal data on our servers, most data-subject requests (access, correction, deletion, export, portability, or objection to processing) are already satisfied by the fact that your data has never left your device — you can review, change, or permanently erase it at any time simply by using the app or uninstalling it.
If you still have questions about what QuranWords does or doesn't do with information, or believe we have somehow received data we shouldn't have, contact us at shoaib.rokon@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
QuranWords is an educational app suitable for learners of all ages, including children, and was built with that in mind:
We may update this Privacy Policy as the app evolves — for example, if we introduce optional cloud sync, accounts, or new third-party services in the future. When we make a material change, we will:
Continued use of QuranWords after an updated policy is posted constitutes acceptance of the changes. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
